My life just hit the skids, hard. After a drug scandal blew up in my face, I’m out of a team, my endorsements are gone, and my bank account’s pretty much empty. So now I’m stuck trying to sell my house to scrape together some cash. The kicker? I’ve got to work with Paige Anderson, the real estate agent with a smile that could light up a room—and the woman I made a complete fool of myself with not too long ago.

Paige has got it all together when it comes to selling houses, but her personal life? Not so much. Her marriage is on the rocks, and she’s doing everything she can to keep it from falling apart. The last thing she needs is to deal with a washed-up, scandal-ridden hockey player like me. But she’s gunning for that big commission, and I guess that’s enough to keep her in the game. Funny thing is, somewhere along the way, I end up being the one she turns to when things get rough.

I didn’t see it coming, but I start to catch real feelings for Paige. It’s a wake-up call that maybe it’s time for me to get my act together and start thinking about what comes next. But Paige has her own baggage, and she’s scared I’ll just end up hurting her like every other guy has.

If we’re going to make this work, we’ve both got to put our fears on ice and take a shot at something real. No guarantees, but maybe, just maybe, we can make it to our own version of a happily-ever-after.
